THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL CULTURAL COMMISSION, HAS RENEWED HIS CONTRACT FOR ANOTHER FOUR YEARS TO CONTINUE LEADING THE AGENCY

Mr. Steven Enomb Kilanda has renewed his contract as the Executive Director of the National Cultural Commission for another four years. The signing of his contract occur on June 25, 2024, at the Government House in Konedobu, Port Moresby.
Expressing his gratitude, Kilanda thanked the Marape-Roso Government for their continued trust in his leadership and he also extended his appreciation to the Board of the National Cultural Commission, and the former Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture for this opportunity to serve the people of Papua New Guinea.
He acknowledged the strong support from the management and staff of the National Cultural Commission, attributing his reappointment to their collective efforts. “This reappointment is no surprise to the National Cultural Commission and its staff; we have worked hard together, and it is a testament to our joint accomplishments,” Kilanda stated.
Mr. Kilanda expressed humility and happiness at being recognized for his work and included on the King’s award list. He said the award motivates him to continue contributing more to the country.
Professor Leo Marai the Acting Board Chairman of National Cultural Commission praised Kilanda’s effective leadership, noting the significant achievements of the National Cultural Commission despite being a small agency. “Mr. Kilanda has led this agency effectively in the past five years, and we have seen considerable progress. The Board is confident in his continued leadership and anticipates further developments and new initiatives under his guidance,” Marai remarked.
He also highlighted the Commission’s exemplary devotion to government systems concerning reporting, accountability, and performance, hoping other departments would follow this model.
Additionally, Professor Marai congratulated Mr. Kilanda on being awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), recognizing his exceptional performance. He expressed gratitude to the Marape-Rosso Government for recommending Kilanda for this honor.
The National Cultural Commission is looking forward to a thriving period under Kilanda’s leadership, marked by continued progress and innovation.
