
The National Cultural Commission (NCC) had officially launches it 2024 Annual Operation Plan and National Events Calendar at the Crown Hotel, Downtown Port Moresby on the 07th of March 2024
Presented at the event, was Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture, Hon. Isi Henry Leonard the National Cultural Commission Executive Director Mr. Steven Enomba Kilanda, National Cultural Commission Deputy Board Chairman Prof. Leo Marai, stakeholders and other dignitaries.
The Minister for Tourism Art and Culture was happy to see that NCC have supporters, stakeholders and people who believe in what it has been doing. Minister Leonard thanked Mr. Kilanda and his hard working team for all their efforts to develop the Annual Operation Plan and the 2024 National Annual Cultural Calendar. He said, “The calendar features a total of 64 active cultural festivals, events and shows throughout the country”.
Minister Leonard Continues on saying, Agencies of Government, Foreign Embassies, NGO’s, LLG’s, Provinces and everyone has a role to play in this equation of culture and developing it for tourism purposes.
He said, “This 2024 Annual Operation Plan was perfectly created to guide us as responsible and impeccably governed agency to archive the targets”.
Minister Leonard appeals to the development partners, stakeholders, embassies and high commissions to come forward and support NCC with its programs and activities.
The National Cultural Commission Executive Director Mr. Steven Enomb Kilinda said “NCC had develop its National Cultural Policy 2022-2023 that comes with its strategic plan. The team had developed its Annual Operation Plan (AOP) that is now launched”. He said, “The AOP is just a plan that needs money to ensure that it is carried out”. Mr. Kilanda continues on saying “NCC is a very small agency and it needs all the support from our stakeholders and other supporting agencies. “ Our culture is diverse and we need parties to work together to move this industry”. Said Mr. Kilanda.
The Deputy Board Chairman of National Cultural Commission Prof. Leo Marai said “this event is important because this sector of the government had been dormant for years but since Mr Kilanda took over the sector had been moving forward.
