A new community cultural center was officially commissioned by the National Cultural Commission (NCC) in East Mekeo, Central province on Friday, 20, March 2026.

NCC Cultural Development Manager Mr Bola Noho representing the NCC Executive Director Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda were on hand to present the certificates of registration to the organizing committee.

Mr Noho said in his speech that it is important to maintain and keep our authentic culture alive.

“In doing so, we will be able to keep our original culture alive at the community level, so that our children can learn and develop a sense of identity and belongings,” said Mr Noho.

“We have been working since last year to get the center development and registration. Thus, to get to see it being developed and commissioned; it’s a milestone achievement for the community and the committee alike,” he said.

Mr Noho said on behalf of the National Cultural Commission he was happy to deliver the certificates of recognition from NCC to the East Mekeo Agro-Tourism Cultural Center.

NCC also pledged a commitment of K5000 towards the centre.

Also on the same day Noho visited Mekeo Spiritual House and presented another K5000 on be half of the National Cultural Commission. NCC pledged its commitment to support and develop community based cultural centres at the community level by working in partnership with the locals.

A total of K10, 000 was committed by NCC to the two cultural centers in Mekeo, Central Province
