The National Cultural Commission Board was reappointed for the second term when their first term expired last year.

The NCC Board swearing in ceremony was held at the Institute of PNG Studies (IPNGS) in Boroko presided by Principal Magistrate His Worship Billy Pidu on Tuesday, March 19, 2026.

The Board was reappointed by Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Bleden Norman Namah, MP. The members include Chairman: Amb. Ivan Pomlaue, Deputy Chairman: Prof. Leo Marai and Members, Mr. Aki Tumu, Dr. Michael Mel, Mrs. Janet Sios, Mr. Joseph Auli, Mr. Alois Kuaso and Mr. Steven Enomb Kilanda.
“We appreciate Principal Magistrate His Worship Billy Pidu for facilitating the ceremony, which was followed by the NCC Board’s first meeting for 2026.”

Deputy Board Chairman Prof. Leo Marai was full of praise for the performances and operations of the NCC and its cultural affiliates or institutions like the Institute of PNG Studies, National Film Institute (NFI) and National Performing Art Troupe (NPAT) based in Goroka, Eastern Highlands province.

Prof Marai said, “On behalf of the Board and its Members, I commended the head of the department Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda and its senior management and staff for patience, hard work and commitment to deliver NCC and its sister agencies where it is now.”

“Alot of changes and development taking place in the past years and this speaks volumes of the leadership and commitment both by the leaders and its senior officers. So, thank you,” said Prof. Leo Marai.

NCC Board Member Mrs Janet Sios also expressed similar concerns commending the Executive Director and its senior officers and staff for a fantastic work done.
Mrs Sios said, “though we are a small agency, the work done here is immense with a lot of development taking place at the institutions.”

Executive Director Mr Steven Enomb Kilanda acknowledged and welcomed the Board members for being reappointed for the second term as NCC Board.
