KSAWANG FESTIVAL IN BUANG, BULOLO HIGHLIGHTS AUTHENTIC AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY

The Ksawang Cultural Festival in Bapa Village, Buang LLG, showcased the vibrant cultural heritage of Morobe Province, attracting participants from across the region.


Presented at the event were the Governor of Morobe Province Hon. Luther Wange, representing the Executive Director of National Cultural Commission (NCC), Ms Betty Neanda (Senior Cultural Service Officer at NCC), Chairman of the Ksawang Festival Mr. Russell Yakam, other dignitaries and local leaders.


Hon. Luther Wange highlighted the importance of preserving culture in this fast changing world.


He said, “This festival is a testament to our rich cultural diversity and the unity of our communities. It is essential that we continue to support and celebrate our culture.”


Ms. Betty Neanda the Senior Cultural Service Officer at National Cultural Commission said, “The Ksawang Festival is more than just a celebration; it’s a vital opportunity for our young people to connect with their heritage and learn the values that binds our community together.”


The festival not only featured stunning performances and traditional displays but also strengthened community ties, encouraging local businesses and fostering pride among residents.


Mr. Russell Yakam the Kawasang Festival Chairman expressed his gratitude to National Cultural Commission for its support to the festival.


He said,“The recognition from the National Cultural Commission validates our efforts to preserve our culture.

 

This festival not only celebrates our traditions but also strengthens our community bonds.”


The successful hosting of the Ksawang Cultural Festival highlights the importance of cultural heritage in Papua New Guinea and the collaborative effort needed to preserve these traditions for future generations.


National Cultural Commission officially recognised the festival as one of its event around the county. The Commission also supported the Kwasang Festival with K10, 000 as a token of its support towards the
festival.
