The National Cultural Commission has brought new life to one of the significant and historical sites in the Kudjip area of Jiwaka Province by recognizing and reviving its cultural significance. The Tolsi Cultural Show launching took place on February 16, 2023, in Kudjip township, with thousands of people attending from all corners of the province.
Tolsi is known for its historical artifacts found in the environment, and during the event, Mr. Waine, the Festival and Events Officer, spoke on behalf of the NCC Executive Director, Steven Enomb Kilanda. He announced that Tolsi Cultural Show is now a registered event with the National Cultural Commission and presented the certificate of registration to Tolsi Cultural Show founder and Chairman, Mr. Michael Parik. The NCC has also pledged K5,000 to support the Tolsi Cultural Show.
Several important figures were present at the launch, including Mr. Masi Martine, the NCC Internal Auditor, Mr. Tiko Wandu, the anthropologist for the National Museum, and the Acting Executive Director for the National Museum, Mr. Alois Kuaso.
Mr. Parik expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Kilanda and the NCC for recognizing the Tolsi Cultural Show and the certificate awarded. He also announced that he is ready to stage the first Tolsi Cultural Show in Kudjip in the coming months.
Tolsi has also established a small Cultural Centre, registered with the NCC, where all artifacts collected around Jiwaka Province are preserved. Mr. Parik stated that he had a dream ten years ago to build a Cultural Centre, and now it has come true, registered as the Tolsi Cultural Centre.
