ENGA CULTURAL SHOW CELEBRATES 30 YEARS ANNIVERSARY

The reowned Enga Cultural Show Celebrates it’s 30 years of existence in style with explosive cultural display.

The Tourism Promotion Authority Chief Executive Officer Mr. Eric Mossman Uvovo and National Cultural Commission Executive Director Mr. Steven Enomb Kilanda takes the honour on behalf of Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Hon. Belden Namah to officially declare the Enga Cultural Show open in Wabag on Friday, 9th August, 2024.

Enga Cultural Show marks its 30th years of running since its inception or establishment in 1994.

Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas urged the people to keep the practice and hold on to their cultures.

“We must be proud of our culture. It is our identity, and God has blessed us with one language and diverse cultures. Hence, everyone must make it their business to participate in cultural shows and keep hold on to our unique culture.

“This cultural show is not for making money or for the tourists who attended the show every year. It is about the future of our children. Yes, they can come and bring money to the province but, most importantly, it is everyone’s business to take part in every show. The Enga Provincial Government will continue to invest in hosting this cultural show annually.

I encourage every school and school student to come and participate in this cultural show. For those schools that are neglecting the policy to participate in the initiative is failing the Government Policy. Hence, it is about time we make our business get the children involved in our Cultural Show every year,” remarked Sir Peter Ipatas.

He further reiterated that this cultural show is not for now but, it is about the future of our children and our culture that will have a lasting impact.
“We have been hosting the Enga Cultural show for the last 29 years and as the Governor of Enga, I am proud to say we will continue to invest and support the show and thanked everyone who participated. Today, we are celebrating 30 years of showcasing Enga’s authentic and vibrate cultures through these platforms or initiatives.

Culture is our identity and pride, so everyone are encouraged to make their business hold on to our culture,” said Sir Peter Ipatas.

Tourism Promotion Authority Chief Executive Officer Eric Mossman Uvovo, who speaks on half of Tourism, Arts, and culture, says, “Enga cultural show has reached another milestone by celebrating 30 years of existence.

“This speaks volumes of the vibrant and stable leadership in Enga province. Despite the negativity and setback of the province, especially tribal fighting, Enga has continued to deliver the cultural show for 30 years. This is a testament that Enga leadership is strong and solid,” said Mr Uvovo.

“Enga is leading the way in preserving the cultures through this cultural show. Enga is one of the provinces that has one of the best cultural centres in the country and is the first province to integrate culture in the school curriculum.

The Tourism Promotion Authority and National Cultural Commission will continue to work in partnership with Enga Provincial Government to develop culture and tourism products in the province,” remarked Eric Mosman Uvovo.

Enga Cultural show is the oldest cultural show in the country celebrating 30 years. With the theme; Honouring the past and embracing the future, Enga cultural show is building the foundation through culture for the next generation to carry on the legacy.
