IT is discipline, commitment and hard work that brings success, and this is no exception for Anslom Nakikus and Emmanuel Muganaua or commonly known as Toxic Mahn, says Steven Enomb Kilanda, National Cultural Commission Executive Director.

This was the key message from NCC Executive Director Steven Enomb Kilanda when congratulating two of Papua New Guinea’s Internationally recognised and award-winning Musicians, Singer songwriter Anslom Nakikus and Music Producer Emmanuel Muganaua (Toxicmahn) from their trip from Atlanta, United States of America (USA).

In a small but significant ceremony held at the National Cultural Commission (NCC) head office in Port Moresby today, NCC Executive Director Steven Enomb Kilanda on behalf of the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture; Hon. Belden Namah, Board and management including the staff, welcome and congratulate Anslom Nakikus and Emmanuel Muganaua back to the country with the prestigious awards that puts PNG on the International scene through Music.

“I have observed these two guys, Anslom and Emmanuel, to be one of the committed, hard-working people. It comes back to having the right attitude and discipline and they deserved to be at the level where they are now. At NCC we are a small agency with limited fundings but with the limited resources, we are proud to support two of our musicians who have placed Papua New Guinea on the world stage,” said Mr. Kilanda.

“It’s a proud moment for us all and we at NCC would do whatever we can to continue our support to Anslom and Emmanuel to promote musicians and grow the industry in the country,” he said.

“We can not attend to every individual artist and musician out there because industry is huge. We are working with those who are approaching our office for our little support towards their efforts in that’s space. we are willing to work with any Artists or Musicians who are willing to work with us,” added Mr. Kilanda.

Toxic Mahn or Emmanuel Muganaua was awarded and won the International Sound Engineer of the year for the International Singer- Songwriter Association (ISSA) Award presentation in Atlanta USA.

Anslom Nakikus also won an award in the Inter-Continental Music Awards in Los Angeles for his hit songs, Break the Barrier in the African Reggae/ Dancehall category. The song “Break the Barrier” was recorded in South Africa and Port Moresby by Emmanuel Muganaua and Dave Segul who was late Lucky Dube’s engineer.

“The music video of the song ‘Break the Barrier’ was filmed in Kerala, India during Anslom’s performance at the International Independent Music Festival in India in 2022. This show was attended by Emmanuel and I and it was sponsored by NCC,” said Anslom Nakikus.

“We thank the National Cultural Commission under the leadership of Executive Director Steven Enomb Kilanda for his continued support.”
