Agency setting higher standards to deliver services
 
The  Department of National Planning and Monitoring Secretary Mr. Konney Samuel is pleased to work with the three government Institutions, the Tourism Promotion Authority, National Cultural Commission and the National Museum and Art Gallery under the ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture.
 
When speaking at the official opening of the newly built National Performing Art Troupe (NPAT) double story office complex and the commissioning of the staff accommodation L Building at National Film Institute (NFI) in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province Mr. Samuel Konney stated “our job is to look after the National development and fund budget but, to do work is not our mandate so we provide funding to National Cultural Commission and today we are happy to see this new development.
 
I am pleased to share this moment to be here to officially open the new double story office complex to support the work of culture and tourism development in the Eastern Highlands province,” said Mr. Samuel. 
 
When we talk about development, we are referring to the people. We must look after our people, if we look after our people, then they will become responsible citizen of our country. If we don’t look after our people, there will be lots of issues in the community and society.
 
There is huge economic potential in the tourism, art and culture industry and we are providing small funding support only. Thus, we are working with tourism promotion authority and the minister and the National Cultural Commission to help promote and develop culture and tourism industry in the country,” said Mr. Konney Samuel.
 
We have provided some funding this year but, there needs to be more money put into these agencies to continue the good work their doing as far as culture and tourism is concerned. I am happy as the Secretary for National Planning and Monitoring to come witness at first hand some of our efforts from the Government through the Department of National Planning and Monitoring supporting some of these investments’ and projects are actually bearing fruit or taking place with developments undertaken at the respective Government Agencies are being delivered on time and with efficiency at all levels.”
 
“I will continue to work with the minister tourism, art and culture, Tourism Promotion Authority, National Cultural Commission and the National Museum and Art Gallery to ensure we promote and develop this industry big time,” added Mr. Konney Samuel.
 
Minister Tourism, Art and Culture Hon. Isi Henry Leonard officially opened the new double story office complex for National Performing Art Troupe (NPAT) coincide with the commissioning of a new accommodation building at National Film Institute funded by the Department of National Planning and Monitoring supported by the Tourism Promotion Authority and the National Cultural Commission.
 
Minister Isi Henry Leonard welcomed the partnership and effective collaboration and corporation between these important government institutions for fair and effective service delivery.
 
The minister was accompanied by the Department of National Planning and Monitoring Konney Samuel, Tourism Promotion Authority chief executive director Eric Mossman Uvovo and National Cultural Commission executive director Steven Enomb Kilanda and other senior government officials in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.
 
National Performing Art Troupe formerly known as Raun Raun Theater and National Film Institute are two of the affiliates of National Cultural Commission based in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.
